Dear 2019

Dear 2019,

2019 was a rollercoaster to say the least. Full of ups and downs, highs and lows, romance and heartache, accomplishments and failures, and almost everything in between. In all 2019 was a rough year but it didn’t break me, it made me stronger. To me the end of 2019 is not just the end of another year it’s the end of an entire decade. The end of the most defining decade of my life. But that’s for a different blog post, let’s discuss 2019!

I brought in the year ready to take on the world as an independent woman, but a couple weeks I met a guy and a few months later he made me his girlfriend. In spring 2019 I also joined a co-ed professional business fraternity, and was elected to be Chief of Staff for our Student Government Association the following school year. My biggest accomplishment of spring 2019 has to be becoming a two time national champion with Orange Pride Dance Team in Daytona Beach, Florida in April 2019. Moving into the summer I received my first internship working for a start-up digital marketing agency. I was mostly in charge of social media management and I also have a video talking about my summer internship. Watch it here. During the summer I was also fortunate enough to travel to New York and New Jersey for the first time with my mom (watch the videos here) and go to Tennessee to visit my dad and the rest of my family.

Now to fall 2019! This part is the rollercoaster. I entered the fall semester a single woman but also in a "situationship" type of thing with my ex (complicated, yes I know). Within the first couple weeks of the semester I traveled to Los Angeles, California with my sister and cousin for a vacation and to New Orleans, Louisiana for the College Democrats of America summer convention. I also became the President of my local College Democrats chapter which led to me being present at the Democratic Presidential Primary Debate in Houston, Texas. I have also been serving as the Coordinator for my university’s Diversity Council. I was blessed to see another birthday and turn 21 years old! I celebrated in San Antonio at the Mala Luna music festival. We saw Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Miguel, DaBaby, Ari Lennox, and many many more! A few weeks later I went back to New York and New Jersey for a diversity convention for my job.

As another year is coming to an end I take it as a time to reflect on my actions. 2019 has been a very successful year as well as a trying year, but like I said before, it didn’t break me it made me stronger. This chapter of my life is coming to a close but God is opening a new one. I am beyond excited for what 2020 has in store for me and I am even more excited to share it with you!
